About TakeAPart

The TakeAPart movement is powered by hundreds of thousands of supporters from around the world taking action against the tobacco industry as part of global campaigns and through individual actions. TakeAPart supports efforts to enact and enforce proven policies to both reduce global tobacco use and protect the public from corporate misconduct. We stand against the tobacco industry as it targets the world’s most vulnerable people in its quest to profit from tobacco-caused death and disease. TakeAPart is an initiative of the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids.

Tobacco’s terrible toll is no accident. It is caused directly by the global tobacco industry’s insidious and even illegal practices. For decades tobacco companies have:

• Marketed their deadly and addictive products to children and other vulnerable populations
• Deceived the public about the devastating consequences of tobacco use
• Fought proven measures that reduce tobacco use and save lives
• Sought to legitimize themselves as responsible corporate citizens even as they spread death and disease across the globe and opposed real solutions.

The global tobacco industry is built on lies and manipulation and its product kills when used as intended.

But by working together we can change this picture.

We believe everyone can take a part in the movement to take apart the global tobacco industry. Working together, we will stand up to the world’s tobacco companies and restrict the influence tobacco companies have over policy and governments. By working together under TakeAPart, we can reduce tobacco use and save lives.

TakeAPart works with organizations and people around the world to monitor tobacco companies and act to expose and stop tobacco industry misconduct. We help people around the world watch and report what tobacco companies are doing in their countries, organize campaigns with our partners, post the latest news on our social media (follow us – Facebook and Twitter), and publish findings on tobacco industry misconduct.
